While researching how to make my own ratchet mechanism and learning about click springs, I discovered this amazing machinist's YouTube channel called Clickspring. In the below video the guy bootstraps a lathe from raw ingredients. Starting with some wood, some metal, some string, and grinding stones. It's immediately awe inspiring.
